About Me

The Glassman (Leo Sampson)

I am the Glassmann (Leo Sampson), I repair damaged antique glass items (no windshields : ). My wife, Shirley and I have been married 60 years and we have 4 children, 8 grandchildren AND 5 great children.

We started in the antique business about 45 years ago. We traveled the United States following the Antique Show circuit from San Diego, CA and Tacoma, WA on the west coast to Washington, DC on the East coast doing about 55+ shows per year. We dealt in glassware, mostly Elegant glass of the Depression Era (Fostoria, Cambridge, Heisey, Tiffin, etc.). We’ve sold thousands of pieces of depression glass plus Cut Glass, art glass and a lot of fine glass (Lalique, Baccarat, and other French glass).

About 40 years ago I had been repairing some damaged glass for other dealers and decided to start doing restoration at the antique shows. Over the years, I’ve designed and built a lot of my own machines and now have the tools and knowledge to do specialty work like marbles, Cut Glass, perfume bottles, and glass bells (here’s a partial list of my services).  Now, I am well known in Minneapolis, Del Mar, Denver, Phoenix, Washington DC, Dallas, and many small towns across the country. You can see what my customers have to say about me here. I have been at the Del Mar Show 3 times a year for over 30 years. I spent a few years in Las Vegas recently doing work for the Wynn Casino, Lalique, Ripa de Monti, The Waterford Store, Becky Binion, and Donald Trump.

In the last few years we have slowed down some. We still do about 7 shows a year (you can see the full schedule here), but most of my business is done via mail order now.

Thank you,

Leo
